ASK ME ABOUT
How I went from nihongo zero to hero in four months, won the silver medal for Karate at the Goodwill Games, or grew enough underage beard to get into a Pearl Jam concert.
AND FOR THE REST OF THE STORY
Does this man look like a professional wrestler? As a kid in Seattle, Washington, Josh dreamed of becoming a WWF sensation known as “The Mangler,” and while executing choke sleepers on cable TV never manifested in his future, fate ultimately fulfilled his vision of ring dominance in even better ways. Josh moved to Hawaii straight out of high school, and was instantly hooked on change: here was a world of sun, surf and Asian cultural imports, a tropical island totally unlike his rainy hometown. “There’s a reason why the vampires of the Twilight series lived in the Northwest,” he quips. This change of scene imbued him with a passion for the unknown, so when some friends invited him to join their recruitment firm in Tokyo, he jumped at the opportunity. [Jump forward a few years.] Josh is now settled in Nippon. Work and play as one. An outgoing and laid back “beers and BBQ” kind of colleague, he’s actually fixed on progress, constantly digging for his next big breakthrough in life. We like to think that helped bring him to us. “My previous company was obsessed with KPIs for their own sake, and commissions changed suddenly,” he says. “At Zensho Agency, we value respect and transparency one hundred percent.” We value Josh, too. When he’s not trading skateboard tricks with his daughter or musing over online Deep State conspiracy sites, you’ll find him slamming big deals to the canvas. After all, he doesn’t need a fancy monicker to drop jaws in awe.
